OnePlus Open Design Revamp Leaked: New Renders Show Major Changes

OnePlus has been teasing its first foldable phone, the OnePlus Open, for months now. And with every new leak or rumor, the anticipation for the device has grown. The latest leak reveals that the OnePlus Open will have a major design overhaul. This includes a new camera module, a relocated selfie camera, and a more refined overall look. Check out all the details below!

OnePlus Open Leak Reveals New Design!

Renowned leaker OnLeaks has shared new renders of the upcoming OnePlus Open foldable phone. The renders suggest that OnePlus is taking inspiration from Oppo and Google for the design of its first foldable smartphone.

The new renders show that the OnePlus Open will have a similar “book-style” design to the Oppo Find N2 and the Google Pixel Fold. It will also have a wider aspect ratio than previous renders of the OnePlus Open, which is in contrast to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5.

The OnePlus Open has a new design with a flat mid-frame and rounded edges. The iconic Alert Slider is still present, and the back of the phone features a large circular camera hump with a triple camera system and Hasselblad branding. There is also a circular cutout beneath the “H” in the Hasselblad branding, which could indicate the presence of a Time-of-Flight (TOF) sensor or a LiDAR sensor. The OnePlus logo is located just beneath the camera hump.

The smartphone also has a quad-speaker setup with two speakers at the bottom and two speakers at the top. The bottom edge of the phone houses the USB Type-C port and 5G antenna bands.

The outer display of the new foldable phone is much wider than the previous model, with a book-like aspect ratio. It has rounder corners and narrow bezels all around. The selfie camera is located in a punch-hole in the center of the display. The inner foldable display also has a wide aspect ratio, thin bezels, and a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera.

The OnePlus Open is rumored to have a 7.8-inch Quad-HD+ AMOLED foldable display and a 6.3-inch AMOLED outer display. Both displays will have a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and a minimum of 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

The device is expected to have a 4,800mAh battery with 67W fast charging. The camera system will consist of a 48MP primary camera, a 48MP ultra-wide sensor, a 64MP telephoto lens, and possibly a TOF or LiDAR sensor. The outer punch-hole camera will be 32MP, and the inner camera will be 20MP. The device will run Oxygen OS 13 based on Android 13, which will be optimized for the wide-aspect foldable form factor.

The OnePlus Open was originally scheduled to launch on August 29, but there have been some rumors that the launch date has been delayed. The reason for the delay is said to be because OnePlus is switching display suppliers from BOE to Samsung. These are just rumors at this point, so it’s best to take them with a grain of salt. We’ll keep you updated on any new information as it becomes available.
